With fan interest in high school football at an all time high, it was only a matter of time before promoters turned their eyes toward the state of Texas for an event as big as the Lone Star State itself. Teams from Georgia, Lousiana, California, Pennsylvania and Ohio will be matched up with some of Texas' best high school football teams in the 2008 Texas Gridiron Classic.

Recently, Ruston Louisiana withdrew from the field of 14 and will be replaced by Woodland Hills (Pittsburgh). Mansfield Timberview will get things kicked off at 11 A.M. on Saturday against Buford, Georgia against perennial powerhouse John Curtis and 2006 State Champion. The marquee matchups include defending state champion Euless Trinity versus John Curtis Christian and Cedar Hill taking on Cincinnati La Salle. Continue Story

Team Spotlight: Euless Trinity Trojans

In the last 3 years, few teams in Texas have experienced as much success at the 5A level as Euless Trinity. The Trojans have gone from a consistent winner to a legitimate powerhouse.

Over the last 3 seasons 40 wins, 3 losses and 2 state titles mean the bar has risen to a level that Head Coach Steve Lineweaver never dreamed possible when he took over the job in 2000. "We've created a legacy over the last several years and now the expectations from the fans are that we need to be in the hunt for a state title every year.
